Entry feeThe entry fee will be GBP 40, payable upon arrival at the site.
Pilots who wish to fly from the site but not compete in the championships are welcome, though there may be some restrictions whilst competition tasks are actually taking place. The fee will be GBP 10 per day.
After all costs are met, the balance is forwarded to the BMAA competitions fund which exists to assist UK team members to compete in International championships which is usually a very expensive business.
Insurance
All pilots must have 3rd party insurance to a minimum of GBP 250,000 and valid for competitions.
Insurance cover for foreign visitors may be available on-site (more info to appear here soon) but this is bound to be relatively expensive, it is therefore recommended that foreign visitors obtain their insurance in their own country, making sure it is valid for UK.
UK pilots are expected to have arranged their insurance cover before arrival as it will not be available on-site.
Pre-registration
All competitors must have pre-registered on the COMPS website. Entry may be refused to people who have not pre-registered.
Maps
The official map will be the UK Ordnance survey 'Landranger' 1:50,000 map No. 152 'Northampton & Milton Keynes'. Some copies will be available for sale on-site but it is recommended you purchase one in advance. They can be obtained online from National Map Centre. It is also recommended you come with enough sticky-back clear plastic (eg 'fablon') to preserve your map for the duration of the championships.
For the purposes of airspace information, the official map will be Sheet 8 ENGLAND SOUTH 1:250,000 topographical air map of the United Kingdom, edition 7. (Published Feb 2003). A copy of this will be displayed at the championship HQ on site.
Flight recorders
Hopefully the championship can be scored entirely using GPS flight recorders. The French National Microlight Association (FFPlUM) has very kindly promised to lend us some MLR recorders but unfortunately their National Championships are the same week as ours so there may not be enough for everyone. If you have an ordinary GPS (eg Garmin, Magellan Etc) which records tracks please bring it plus, if possible, the data transfer cable. We have software to extract data from most common GPS units, but not many different cables. For those people who are issued with a MLR recorder, you will need 4 x AA batteries, one set of good quality ones (eg Duracell) should be enough for the whole championships.
