British Paramotor Nationals 2004

Who says the BMAA doesn’t love Paramotoring?

Chris Finnigan, CE of the BMAA, has been in I touch with the organising team for the Nationals today to tell us that they have awarded us some funding for the National Championships 2004.  Good news indeed!

Paramotoring has been granted the same amount as the microlight championships, and while this will not be sufficient to cover all our costs it is better than a kick in the teeth.  The BMAA are also covering the event for insurance – again a very important aspect of being able to hold the championships.  If the BMAA did not fund this for us then we would most likely find the cost of event insurance totally prohibitive and the championships just simply could not happen.

BMAA also support, and partially fund, British pilots when they compete in the European and World Championships.  Any profits that are made at our National Championships will go back into BMAA funds to help support our British Paramotoring team when they compete in the European Championships, in Portugal, in August 2004.

In talking to Chris over the last few weeks it is very interesting to hear that the BMAA really are getting behind Paramotoring and see us as a growing element of their membership that they wish to acknowledge and encourage.  Over the next few months the BMAA Council will be looking closely at our sport and how they can enhance and develop it safely.  Chris sees Paramotoring as often the first step into microlighting and therefore an important class to nurture and grow.

So individuals should no longer feel that Paramotoring is out on its own in the cold – the BMAA loves us, and have proved it.  Thank you Chris Finnigan and the BMAA.
