Competition Insurance

As in past years it will be a requirement that all pilots competing in
the 2008 UK Championships have valid third party insurance.

This is a requirement of the event insurance company and of the
organising committee - and I'm sure you'll agree that it makes sense
too!

Registered pilots AND free flyers will be required to present their
insurance papers for validation when booking in at the field HQ. You
will need to have organised your insurance prior to the event, as the
organisers are unable to arrange this. Please be sure to bring your
papers with you and that they are current and valid. THERE WILL BE NO
EXCEPTIONS FOR EITHER COMPETITORS OR FREE FLYERS.

The two current sources of insurance that we are aware of are:

1) Through the BHPA under their normal membership scheme, with
Paramotoring endorsement (SPHG). The BHPA is the route we know well.
We know that they provide good cover and support pilots in the event
of a claim.

2) OnRisk (www.onrisk.co.uk) have advised us that they are able to
offer cover for competitors.

Please note that some pilots have previously been covered Verspieren.
Verspieren have indicated to a number of pilots that they no longer
provide cover in the UK but their cover will be acceptable if
correctly evidenced (please see below).

As a Committee we are not endorsing or recommending any of the options
above. If you have found alternative cover, the requirements will be
the same as for Verspieren. If you are in doubt about whether your
cover is sufficient, please feel free to contact the organisers WELL
BEFORE the event.

Evidence of Insurance can be in the form of a valid BHPA Membership
card (for the full period of the event) with SPHG endorsement OR a
schedule from another provider (such as OnRisk or Verspieren), which
specifically states that competition flying is included. The schedule
must also show all correct details (including pilot personal details,
address, etc). OnRisk tell us that this statement will be included in
their documentation for those who request it. YOU need to make sure
you have the correct paperwork as no exceptions can be made.
