PPG PHG Nationals: Introduction

Welcome to the Foot Launched Microlights UK National Championships 2002 information site.
The 2002 PPG National Championships at Alconbury, Huntingdonshire, courtesy of Geoff Soden over the bank holiday weekend of Saturday June 1 to Tuesday June 4 2002 were a huge success, 31 competing pilots from 6 nations! The first international championship to exceed these numbers was as recently as the 1999 World championships (37 Pilots from 10 nations).
In these National Championships there were theoretically 2 classes, PPG's and PHG's, but no PHG's came to compete.
Eight tasks were completed. Four on 1 June, only one on both 2 and 3 June due to strong winds after 10am, and the final two in perfect conditions on 4 June, Jubilee day.
The final pilot classification in the PPG and PHG classes is an important indicator for the selection of the British team to compete at the European Championships in Hungary 11 - 18 August 2002.
