****************************************************************** Everest forecast - From WNI and AdventureWeather.com By ExplorersWeb ******************************************************************* WNI Headline: Temporary ridging is in place over the ME area but that will all change late this weekend as a trough will swing through the mountain. Winds will tend to turn more westerly by Friday and start to increase this weekend. Expect mainly dry weather today with an occasional snow shower around 7000m. Satellite imagery indicates widespread cloud cover over Nepal and Northern India. For the long term, model solution points towards dry conditions starting the middle of next week. Below 7500m - Winds today look to be light or under 10 m/s and will ease a bit more to under or at 5 m/s tomorrow to early Saturday. Winds will start to pick up on Saturday (5-15 m/s) and increase further to 10-20 m/s by Monday as the westerly jet comes closer and over the ME area. Look for a chance for snow showers on Saturday through Monday and possibly into Tuesday. Above 7500m - Winds today through Saturday will be the lightest throughout this forecasting period. The winds to day will be 10-20 m/s and ease a bit later today into Friday. On Saturday the winds will be around 5-15 m/s. By Sunday the jet will be near the ME area and will increase the winds to 15-22 m/s. On Monday look for even more of an increase in winds 20-27 m/s (25-32 m/s at Summit2) and the winds should hold steady at this magnitude for through early/mid next week. There does look to be plenty of moisture on Sunday for a chance for heavy snow. The next chance for heavy snow will be late on Monday into Tuesday.
