thereafter. Pure Navigation with optional out-landingsObjectiveTo fly a distance based cross-country task without compulsory photos. Pilots take off from the deck, travel the greatest distance possible within the time window and return to the deck. To score one of the turnpoints the pilot must land at it. DescriptionThe pilot takes off, and flies the greatest distance possible in the time allowed. Any number of turnpoints may be visited in any order, however, to find each pilot’s distance only the SHORTEST POSSIBLE route between all the correct turnpoints a pilot visits will be scored. The actual route the pilot took may be irrelevant. Special rulesA 5 km "bonus" will be awarded to each pilot who lands at Sandy microlight airfield and is observed to have complied with their circuit and no fly zones upon arrival and departure. Landing out for refuelling is permitted, but NO FUEL will be available at Sandy Airfield (this is too easy!) Pilots should arrive back by 12:00. Pilots returning between 12:00 and 12:30: 50% penalty. Zero score therafter. Score declarationThe declaration form includes the answer to the questions for each turnpoint the pilot visits AND a declaration of the SHORTEST distance the pilot could have flown between the turnpoints he visited. If it is possible to show later that the declared distance is incorrect then the penalty is: pilot scored distance = actual distance - (difference between actual and declared distance x 3) ScoringPilot score = Where NBp = the distance flown by the pilot in the task. NBMax = the maximum distance flown in the task.
