Competition Insurance

As in past years it will be a requirement that all pilots competing in the
2007 UK Championships must have valid 3rd party insurance.

This is a requirement of the event insurance company and of the organising committee - and I'm sure you'll agree that it makes sense too!

Registered pilots and free flyers will be required to present their
insurance papers for validation when booking in at the field HQ.  You will
need to have organised your insurance prior to the event, as we will not
have any facilities to 'sign you up' on the day.  Please be sure to bring
your papers with you and that they are current and valid. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS FOR EITHER COMPETITORS OR FREE FLYERS.

The three sources of insurance, we are aware of are through the BHPA under their normal membership scheme, with Paramotoring endorsement (FLPA).  The BHPA is the route we know well. We know that they provide good cover and support pilots in the event of a claim.  Alternatively we have been in touch with the organisation OnRisk (www.onrisk.co.uk
) who advise us that they are able to offer cover for competitors. Alternativiely Verspieren (http://aviation.verspieren.com/ulm/) is still offering UK pilots cover.

As a Committee we are not endorsing or recommending any of the three options, simply saying here are Insurers to check out for yourselves, but do be sure they meet your personal requirements. Any of them will be acceptable to the 2007 Nats Committee.

Evidence of Insurance can be in the form of a valid BHPA Membership card with FLPA endorsement OR a schedule from another provider (such as OnRisk or Verspieren), which specifically states that competition flying is included. OnRisk tell us that this statement will be included in their documentation for those who request it. YOU need to make sure you have the correct paperwork as no exception can be made.

The Minimum cover required is the equivalent of 850.000 Euros throughout the period of the Competition. It is common to insure for £1M+.

Foreign Pilots

If your current insurance does not cover you to fly in the UK we will be able to sign you up as a temporary BHPA member for the duration of the Championship for a fee of £40. This will be available to foreign pilots only and can be organised at the Admin office.
