Paramotor Trikes (or other wheeled launch devices)

To clarify the position for pilots wishing to fly paramotor trikes (or other wheeled launch devices) at this years UK Championship the following statement has been made by the Meet Director:-

Trikes will NOT be able to compete at this years Nats on an equal footing with the paramotors and therefore they will only be allowed to fly in the same capacity as other "guest" pilots. Whereas all guest paramotor pilots can be scored the same as all UK competing paramotor pilots, trikes cannot because things such as precision take-offs and landings are not the same as for paramotor pilots.

All guest pilots (and trike pilots) will still have to pay their entrance fee, get a comp number, carry an MLR, etc, and will still be scored for every task they undertake WHERE POSSIBLE. They will also feature on the individual task score sheets.

At the end of the comp, the scorer will put up two final score sheets; the first will show everyone's final position (including guests, foreigners, trikes, etc) and the second will only show the standings of all UK national paramotor pilots.

Any UK guest pilot wishing to fly his / her trike from the airfield - bumps permitting!! - must conform to all CAA rulings appertaining to this class of machine (commonly known as SSDR) at the time of the comp. i.e. Pilots must produce a valid and current microlight / ultralight PPL (+ medical certificate), proof of insurance, have a valid noise certificate for the aircraft (or type) being flown and carry their CAA registration number on the wing and / or airframe. The last two issues may not have been sorted out by the time we hold the comp though we are seeking clarification.

Any foreign pilot wishing to fly a trike must conform to the national rules of his country regarding the operation of paramotor trikes. These requirements must be made known to the committee in advance of the comp by foreign trike pilots submitting a PDF copy of their country's relevant regulation(s) and producing all the necessary documentation, permits, licences, etc, at registration.
